The short answer is, Yes! However! there are certain do's and don'ts when it comes to your pooches health when eating bones.
Lets start off with some of the benefits of bones. Not only do bones help clean your dogs teeth they are also a great source of calcium and phosphorus. They help remove plaque and prevent gum disease. If you have ever seen a close up of your dog eating a bone you will see that whilst the dog is chewing, there a tiny strands of tissue from the bone which act like floss in between the dogs teeth. What you might also not know is that bones aid in strengthening the stomach muscles which can help prevent dogs from getting bloat.
Avoid bones that are hard like shin bones for example and if using marrow bones make sure that they are split in half so the marrow is accessible. Hard bones and uncut marrow bones are very hard which can lead to dogs cracking their teeth! Also avoid cooked bones. Cooked bones can often splinter into very sharp fragments.
