Recycling Raw & Fresh Packaging
Well, the start of 2018 has seen many changes to Raw & Fresh including new packaging. Unfortunately to continue business with the new Australia wide refrigerated logistics company, we had to make some changes to the way we packaged and delivered our products.
Gone are the days of collecting and reusing boxes and product packaging. But instead we’ve ensured to source all recyclable products.
Cardboard Delivery Boxes
The cardboard delivery boxes can be reused or recycled through your usual recycling bin at home. We also encourage larger quantities to be delivered where possible, so for example rather than ordering a weeks worth of food delivered weekly, ordered 4 weeks worth of food delivered monthly.
Gel Ice Packs
The gel ice packs can either be used for your own personal use or be emptied into the soil in the garden for better water retention. The gel is non toxic and will break down over time. The gel cannot be put down the sink.
We’re also looking into creating drop off points for ice packs to be reused in the future, so keep an eye out for that.
Plastic Packaging
The plastic surrounds of the ice pack can all be recycled at any participating REDcycle location. You find these in retailers such as Aldi, Coles or Woolworths. To learn more about the REDcycle program and what fabulous things they do with recycled plastics, click here.
NOTE: Coles and Woolworths have temporarily paused their REDcycle collection program. We're actively looking for alternatives.
The foil insulation liners cannot be REDcycled, but can be reused for picnics or other household cooling needs in place of purchased insulated bags. These are the only items that currently cannot be recycled. We are actively investigating alternative insulation solutions for these, that also meet our refrigeration needs. We're in the final stages of testing for these.
At Raw & Fresh we’re very conscientious of our environmental footprint and are always looking for ways to improve our systems to reflect that.
