Our Essentials range is chosen protein + offal + vegetables (best suited for BARF feeders who add their own supplements).

You can read more to compare these recipes in our compare dog foods guide.

When Is Your Weekly Order Cut-Off?

Orders need to be placed by Sunday Midnight to be delivered the following week.

We make fresh to order each week, so placing an order after this cut-off will mean your order will be delivered the following week.

Is This Food Suitable For Puppies And Kittens?

Yes, our Beef Complete recipe is great for puppies and Chicken Basics for kittens ideal for starting kittens.

You can read more about feeding puppies in our puppy food guide.

Can I Feed This To My Cat?

Yes, cats are obligate carnivores so our Basics Range is best suited for them to include meat and offal with no vegetables.

What Does Human-Grade Mean?

All of our ingredients are Human-Grade which means they are the same meats and products designed for human consumption. Our producers and suppliers are the same companies that supply most of the restaurant and home foods market.

Our beef and beef offal is 100% Australian grass-fed beef and is hormone-free.

Our Australian kangaroo is 100% organic, human-grade quality.

Our vegetables are human-grade and are locally sourced and produced in Australia.

Our human-grade chicken is from Australian producers and is hormone and cage-free. After we produce our chicken its classification changes to pet grade as the chicken contains bone content and is not fit for human consumption. It's premium quality chicken just with bone included as part of your pet's diet.

None of our foods contain any preservatives (natural or otherwise), additives, chemicals, or sulphur dioxide.

How Much Should My Pet Eat?

As a general rule, pets should be eating approximately 2-5% of their body weight dailydepending on activity level and age.

As a general rule of thumb a guide of 250grams per 10kg of bodyweight is used.

This will vary depending on the dogs energy and activity levels. If your pet is overweight and needing to lose a few kgs, feed them closer to 2% of their body weight and give them more exercise. If your pet is underweight, closer to 3% should be fed.

We recommend feeding your dog their required amount over 2 meals per day as this is better for their digestion (and helps to avoid bloat in larger breeds) as well as it stops them scouring all day looking for food. If need be though, you can feed them in one sitting.

The biggest difference you will find with Raw & Fresh is your pet feels fuller for longer. The food we provide is real food, unlike a lot highly processed products in the market full of fillers / additives that your pet will pass very quickly, they will actually digest Raw & Fresh, absorb all the nutrients from it, before passing a smaller amount in their poos.

We also have a handy dog feeding guide for more details. Or a specific puppy feeding guide.

Why Feed Raw?

The commercial pet food industry has convinced us for decades that highly-processed, nutrient-poor food is what we should feed our pets. This contradicts the advice our human nutritionists have been telling us. Why should we eat fresh foods, while our pets get fed filler foods with preservatives that are not the natural food they're supposed to eat?

Raw food is biologically appropriate, more easily digested and high-quality. It's free of additives that increase the shelf life of processed foods, making them naturally more suitable for your pets.

Tens of thousands of our customers have fed millions of our meals and their pets have thrived as a result. Read our pet food reviews if you want to see our testimonials!

What Does BARF Stand For?

Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. 'BARF diet' is a common term you will see when talking about raw food diets for pets. Read this article on "What is BARF" for more information.

What Are The Offal Ratios Is Your Mixes?

We put up to 10% offal in our recipes (stated depended on recipe) of this 10%, 5% of it is liver and the other 5% is split between kidney, pancreas and heart.

Do Your Minces Have Bone In Them?

Our chicken blends have a 10% bone / cartilage ratio within them. Our complete & balanced recipes also contain ground bone for the required calcium content. Our Roo and Beef BARF Essentials recipes do not have bone mixed through. If only feeding beef or roo meals we suggest you select some bones from our bone menu that can be fed over the week.

How Long Does Your Food Last In My Fridge/Freezer?

Fresh is best. We have zero preservatives, sulphur dioxide or salts in our products, thus giving our products shorter shelf life than processed foods.

We recommend the food is split if needed and placed in the freezer on the day of delivery. Thaw in the fridge and use within 24 hours of thawing to ensure optimal freshness and quality is maintained.

The recommended frozen ‘use by’ date is 3 months. Although it might last longer frozen, we strongly recommend consumption within three months. Once thawed, it should not be re-frozen.

My Dog Falls Between The Weight Guides

If this is the case for your dog, we recommend you buy the weight range below (unless he/she is extremely active every day). For example, if your dog weighs 25kg, buy the pack size appropriate for a 20kg dog then just purchase some raw meaty bones eg chicken necks, cages, raw brisket bones etc and give 1 of these each morning as breakfast. You can browse our dog bones to find the best options.

My Dog Seems To Have ‘Gone Off’ The Food Of Late.

This can sometimes happen and the usual reason is they are being over fed. Sometimes their recommended portion size seems quite small in comparison to what you have been feeding them of commercial foods. You must remember that this is REAL food that their body uses more of, therefore takes longer to burn off. Try lessening their portion sizes.

We recommend lightly cooking the food to release more scent and decreasing the cooking over a few days until they are back on the raw food.

Adding sardines are also a great addition to releasing more scent in the food to get fussy dogs onto the food.

Most importantly be confident when feeding! If your nervous or anxious your pet is very likely to pick this up and think, "what is wrong with this food!?" Be confident when serving, place the bowl down and give your pet space to eat.

My Dog Doesn’t Seem To Be Drinking Water As Much

As the food is raw it naturally contains moisture which hydrates your dog when they consume the food. You will notice from feeding kibble a big difference in the amount of water they consume. This is due to the kibble being dry/ moisture free and with the additions of salts in the food they will often have a very high thirst when feed a kibble diet.
